The Friends of the Barnes Coffee Shop,, run by the association is open for refreshments, crafts and bric-a-brac on Mondays from 10am till 12.00 lunchtime and on the evening from 6.30pm to 8.30 pm. Saturday opening hours are 9.45am till 1pm. Money raised goes towards the upkeep of the Institute.

There is many activities going on in the Barnes Institute which is situated in the block between the Jolly Sailor and the Grey Horse.

Wednesday  6pm til 7.30 pm is fun and keep fit Dancercise class.

Wednesday 6.30 to 8pm             Whitburn Karate Club

Thursday  6pm to 7 pm is Yoga classes.
